Rust Inspection, Treatment & Repair at Your Location

Rust is one of the most damaging and progressive issues a vehicle can face — and in New Zealand's coastal climate, it's a common problem. We offer rust inspection, treatment, and repair services to stop corrosion in its tracks and protect your vehicle's structural integrity and longevity.

Rust caught early is far cheaper to treat than rust left to spread. We recommend an annual underbody inspection, particularly for vehicles near the coast or those that are regularly exposed to salt air or wet conditions.

Signs Your Vehicle May Have a Rust Problem

Rust often starts in hidden areas and spreads before it becomes obvious. These are the most common warning signs:

Bubbling or blistering paint

Paint that is bubbling, blistering, or lifting from the surface is a strong indicator that rust is forming underneath. This is caused by moisture getting under the paint and oxidising the metal below. It should be treated before the rust breaks through to the surface.

Visible rust spots or orange discolouration

Surface rust that has broken through the paint is visible as orange or brown discolouration on the panel surface. While surface rust can be treated, it needs to be addressed promptly to prevent it from penetrating deeper into the metal.

Rust around wheel arches, sills, or door edges

These areas are particularly prone to rust because they trap moisture, road salt, and debris. Rust in wheel arches and sills can affect structural integrity and is a WOF failure item if it has penetrated through the metal.

Vehicle is regularly near the coast or in wet conditions

Salt air accelerates corrosion significantly. Vehicles that are regularly parked near the coast, driven on salted roads, or exposed to high humidity are at higher risk of rust — particularly on the underbody, where it can go unnoticed for years.
